John Gibbs

I’m John Gibbs. I’m an artist based in Greensboro, NC. I’ve been making art professionally since early 2000. While working in Chicago as an Art Director, I began painting as a more personal creative outlet. My personal work style is still influenced by my work in computer graphics and commercial art. In my artwork, I have been seeking a balance between representation and abstraction or ambiguity. I draw inspiration from landscapes, people, animals, and things. Through the creative process of rendering these things I work to shows the viewer a different perspective and interpretation of my life experience.

 My work is recognizable by its use of intense colors, cloud scapes, line work, and graphic style. The artwork is meant to be familiar and accessible with a twist to make the viewer question the subject
or to look at the painting in a different way. My goal is to create works that resonate with the viewer.
