Description

This four week course is designed for middle school students preparing to apply for visual art programs, schools and other art opportunities. In this four-week session students will focus on producing high quality, diverse artworks that will display their technical skill and personal artistic voice. By the end of the course students will have carefully completed artworks, ready for submission.

Middle School Offering - Japanese Notan: In this class we will explore the element of shape and balance by creating our own Japanese Notans. By the end of the course students will have created symmetrical, asymmetrical, and radial notans.

 

Please note that this class will begin on Friday, June 20th and resume on Thursdays for the following weeks, and there will be no class on July 3rd.

Meet the Instructor:

Karrington is a South Carolina native currently based in Greensboro, North Carolina. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Art Education from North Carolina A&T State University and his Master of Fine Arts from the University of North Carolina Greensboro. Karrington has taught high school visual arts and currently serves as an adjunct professor at both North Carolina A&T and UNCG. In his artistic practice, he explores the concept of space as it relates to being a person of color through various combinations of painting and collage.
