About

I was born and raised in Surry County, NC. My childhood was spent working alongsidemy grandparents on their farm. My grandfather was the most influential person in my life. He was kind, thoughtful, patient and quiet. I loved the long peaceful walks, wondering through the woods with no particular destination. We had cows, pigs, chickens and mules, most had been named and all cared for with joy. Swimming and fishing in the Little Fish River, planting corn, tobacco and large vegetable gardens are some of my most pleasant memories.

When I turned 18, I joined the United States Marine Corps. The 4 years I spent serving my country was an education like no other. I was introduced to fine young men from many races, religions and regions across America. I had the opportunity to travel around the world and experience different cultures. I was blessed to see some of the most brilliant night skies, desert vistas and jungle vegetation I could have ever imagined. My love of literature started while I was Marine as well as my dislike of authority.

I left the military at the age of 22. I started school at Forsyth Tech and later transferred to High Point University. While attending college, I took an Art Appreciation class. This class was the beginning of a wonderful passion that has helped me greatly over the past 18 years.

I have been married to my lovely wife, Mackenzie for 19 years. We have three children: Jackson, Eli and Myla, I love my family dearly. While my children were small, my painting slowed down. Exhaustion from owning a business and the constant hands-on care of the children made it difficult. At the age of 40 I began to paint again with the excitement I had as a young man.
