Elaine Smith

I have been painting since the early 1980s, with emphasis on landscapes, still life, flora, fauna, beach scenes, and portraits. My works vary in subject matter and style and frequently show the influence of courses I have taken in art history and sculpture at the University of North Carolina--Greensboro. Private studies and workshops also continue to bring me new perspectives on style, use of color, and subject matter. Time has allowed me to paint almost daily and produce art that has been exhibited in Greensboro, Emerald Isle, and West Palm Beach. I focus mainly on capturing the beauty of nature or people by experimenting with color, shape, and texture. In my years of teaching elementary school, I tried to pass on my passion for art to my students by providing examples and encouraging their own work.  Art is in my DNA and I seem to have conveyed it to my children and grandchildren.
