This four week course is designed for middle and high school students preparing to apply for visual art programs, schools and other art opportunities. In this four-week session students will focus on producing high quality, diverse artworks that will display their technical skill and personal artistic voice. By the end of the course students will have carefully completed artworks, ready for submission.
High School Offering- Memento Mori: In this class we will explore the painting genre of Memento Mori Still Lives, but through the medium of charcoal. Though morbid in nature, Memento Mori's serve as a beautiful reminder of the life we live here on earth. By the end of the course students will have a full-value drawing rich with personal and symbolic meaning.
Meet the Instructor:
Karrington is a South Carolina native currently based in Greensboro, North Carolina. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Art Education from North Carolina A&T State University and his Master of Fine Arts from the University of North Carolina Greensboro. Karrington has taught high school visual arts and currently serves as an adjunct professor at both North Carolina A&T and UNCG. In his artistic practice, he explores the concept of space as it relates to being a person of color through various combinations of painting and collage.
