Laurie Mendenhall

Born and raised in High Point, North Carolina, I’m a lifelong creative who first turned to art in my late 20s as a way to open my heart, move through emotional blocks, and express what words couldn’t hold. I launched my first company, Lulu and Daisy, in 2005, gaining national attention in Every Day with Rachael Ray for my hand‑painted wine stoppers and selling my line across the country. Over the years my work has evolved from colored‑pencil doodles to charcoal still‑life, pastel landscapes, bold acrylics, and fluid, intuitive watercolors influenced by my background in interior and exterior design. Music and childhood nostalgia are the heartbeat of my creative world—my studio is always filled with the soundtrack that shaped me, from the Beatles to Motown, and those memories often find their way into my paintings. I’m direct, grounded, and joy‑driven, with a deep love for home, early mornings, and adventures with my husband, two amazing stepsons, and our two quirky dogs—especially our frequent trips to Walt Disney World. My art celebrates the magic of childhood and invites others to reconnect with their own happiest moments.
