I’m Hunter Wells, a self-taught painter with southern roots, a heart shaped by the islands of Hawaii, currently anchored in North Carolina. My creative journey began in childhood, but it truly blossomed when I moved to Hawaii at eighteen. Surrounded by the vibrant colors, lush landscapes, and endless ocean, I found myself captivated by the beauty and diversity of God’s creation. Those years on the islands awakened a deep desire to capture the peace, vitality, and awe I felt in nature—feelings that have never left me.
After four years in Hawaii, I returned to the mainland, carrying with me a longing for the tropics and a renewed sense of purpose. Now, living in North Carolina, I continue to draw inspiration from the world around me, but my art always circles back to the coastlines, marine life, and sunlit escapes that first stirred my spirit. Working primarily in acrylics and watercolors, I strive to create paintings that are both vibrant and tranquil—pieces that invite viewers to pause, breathe, and marvel at the wonders of the natural world.
At the heart of my creative process is a desire to study and celebrate God’s handiwork. Each painting is an act of worship and gratitude, a way to reflect on His amazing creative power and share the joy I find in His artwork! I believe that every wave, every palm tree, and every creature is a testament to the Creator’s imagination and care. Through my art, I hope to encourage others to slow down, notice the beauty around them, and experience the peace and renewal that come from connecting with Jesus.
My journey as an artist is ongoing—a blend of southern warmth, island adventure, and a deep faith that guides every brushstroke. Thank you for joining me in this celebration of beauty, wonder, and the divine artistry that surrounds us all.
